About Our Mission

Thru Jordan's Eyes is a community-supported nonprofit dedicated to providing vision assistance to students in need. We believe every child deserves the gift of clear sight to succeed in school and life.

In loving memory of Jordan Douglas Queen, we continue his dream of serving our community's vision needs. Jordan planned to pursue a career in ophthalmology and return home to help neighbors, friends, and family with eye care.

Through the generous support of our community, we provide eye exams and glasses to students who might otherwise go without, ensuring that financial barriers never stand in the way of a child's ability to learn.

Our Story

Jordan Douglas Queen was born on November 5, 1994. He loved the Lord, his family, friends, and community. As a junior at Gordon Lee High School, Jordan balanced his studies with wrestling for the GLHS team and working at North Georgia Eye Care. It was there that his passion for helping others see clearly took root.

Jordan dreamed of becoming an ophthalmologist and returning to his community to provide vision care to those in need. On November 9, 2011, Jordan was tragically taken from us due to injuries from an automobile accident on his way home from school.

Just weeks after Jordan's passing, in December 2011, Bree Maynor became the first recipient of glasses through what would become Thru Jordan's Eyes. The day after Christmas, Bree's family home burned, and she ran out without her glasses. As the program was being established, Bree received new glasses in Jordan's memory—the first of many students we would serve.

Today, Jordan's legacy lives on through every child who receives the gift of clear vision.
