Jordan Douglas Queen was born on November 5, 1994. He loved the Lord,
his family, his friends, and his community. As a junior at Gordon Lee
High School, he balanced his studies with wrestling for the GLHS team
and working at North Georgia Eye Care. It was there that his passion
for helping others see clearly took root.
Jordan dreamed of becoming an ophthalmologist and returning to his
community to provide vision care to those in need. On November 9, 2011,
he was tragically taken from us due to injuries from an automobile
accident on his way home from school.
Just weeks later, in December 2011, Bree Maynor became the first
recipient of glasses through what would become Thru Jordan’s Eyes.
The day after Christmas, her family home burned, and she ran out
without her glasses. As the program was being established, Bree received
new glasses in Jordan’s memory — the first of many students
we would serve.
Today, Jordan’s legacy lives on through every child who receives
the gift of clear vision.
